Serving Cranberry Township

Landscaping and hardscaping in Cranberry Township

Cranberry Township is our home base and our busiest single market. The yard is on Kingston Avenue, which means most of the township is ten minutes away and a site visit is usually the same week you call.

The township grew fast along the I-79 and PA-228 corridor, and that growth left a signature on its yards. Heavy plant compacted the subgrade for months, a thin layer of topsoil went over the top, and it was seeded. The result is lawns that struggle through July and ground that holds water for days after heavy rain.

So most of our Cranberry work starts underground. French drains, regrading, downspout extensions and dry creek beds come before new turf, because sod laid over compacted clay fails on schedule the second time just as it did the first.

Once water is moving where it should, the visible work follows: paver patios replacing cracked builder slabs, retaining walls, planting beds that suit tight lot lines, and lighting that makes a small back garden usable after dinner.

Lots here are not large, which changes the brief rather than shrinking it. Every square foot has to earn its place, and the difference between a good Cranberry garden and a poor one is usually how carefully the hard and soft areas were divided up.

What Cranberry Township lots need

  • Compacted subgrade

Construction traffic flattened it, then a thin skim of topsoil went over the top

  • Standing water

Flat lots on clay that hold water for days after a storm

  • Tight lot lines

Little room between houses, so access and drainage have to be planned

  • HOA standards

Several developments have rules worth checking before anything is built

  • Builder-grade hardscape

Concrete slabs cracking along their control joints after a decade

Landscaping

Landscape design for
Cranberry Township lots

On a lot this size the plan matters more, not less. There is no room for a bed that does not work or a path that goes nowhere.

We plan the whole property at once even when it gets built in stages, so the patio you add in two years was always allowed for.

  • Concept plan and 3D rendering first
  • Designed around tight lot lines and sightlines to neighbours
  • Phased builds allowed for in the original plan

Hardscaping

Paver patios replacing
cracked concrete slabs

A lot of Cranberry houses came with a poured slab that has since cracked along its control joints. Replacing it with pavers on a proper base is the single most common hardscape job we do here.

The slab comes out rather than being built over, because building over a failing base just moves the problem up.

  • Old slab removed, not paved over
  • Compacted aggregate base with real drainage
  • Seating walls and fire pits built into the layout

Lights Installation

Landscape lighting for
small Cranberry gardens

On a compact lot lighting does more than it does on acreage. It pushes the boundary back after dark and makes a small garden feel considerably larger than it measures.

  • Low-voltage, cable buried not pinned
  • Zoned so the patio and the facade run separately
  • Solid brass fixtures, not plastic

SOD Installation

New lawns over
Cranberry construction ground

The lawn is only as good as what is under it. We decompact, regrade so water runs away from the house, and amend the soil before any turf goes down.

Then sod for an instant finish, or seed for a tougher long-term lawn.

  • Decompaction and grading before turf
  • Drainage corrected first where it is the real problem
  • Watering schedule and first-mow date in writing

Snow & Ice Removal

Snow and ice contracts
for Cranberry businesses

Commercial plowing, salting and sidewalk clearing for the offices, retail and HOA common ground along the PA-228 corridor. Seasonal contracts with 24-hour call-out.

  • Contracts agreed before the season
  • 24-hour call-out
  • HOA common areas and sidewalks included

What our Cranberry Township clients say

Good to know

Questions we get from Cranberry Township

How quickly can you get out to me?

Usually the same week. The yard is on Kingston Avenue, so most of the township is a ten-minute drive.

My lawn dies every July. Why?

Almost always compacted subgrade under thin topsoil. Watering more will not fix it; decompaction and soil work will.

Can you replace my cracked concrete patio?

Yes, and it is one of the most common jobs we do here. The slab comes out rather than being built over.

Do you deal with HOA approvals?

We will give you drawings and specifications in the form most HOAs want. Submitting it stays with you.

Is my yard holding water because of the clay?

Usually it is the clay plus how the lot was graded. Both are fixable.
