The work
What this covers
Mulch is the cheapest thing you can do that makes an entire property look maintained. We cut a fresh spade edge on every bed, clear the weeds properly rather than burying them, and lay hardwood or cedar to depth.
Depth matters more than people expect: too thin and the weeds come straight through, too thick against a trunk and you rot the collar. We lay two to three inches and keep it pulled back off the stems.
- Fresh spade edge A cut edge on every bed, which is most of the finished look
- Weed clearance Pulled and treated first, not buried under the mulch
- Correct depth Two to three inches, kept clear of trunks and stems
- Hardwood or cedar Dyed hardwood for colour retention, cedar for scent and slower breakdown

We hand over on site, and the two-year guarantee starts.
Our guarantee
If it moves, we come back
Everything we build carries a two-year workmanship guarantee on top of whatever the material manufacturer offers. That is not a marketing line — it is why we spend the money on base depth and drainage that a cheaper quote skips.
The crew that built it is the crew that comes back. There is no warranty department to argue with.
- Two-year workmanship guarantee in writing
- Material warranties registered in your name
- The original crew handles any callback
- No charge for anything that is our workmanship

Common questions
How often does it need doing?
Once a year, usually spring. Cedar can stretch to eighteen months.
Do I need landscape fabric?
Rarely. It stops mulch feeding the soil and weeds root on top of it anyway.
Can you match what is already down?
Yes. Bring us a handful or a photo and we will match colour and grade.
How deep should it be?
Two to three inches, kept clear of trunks and stems.
Does dyed mulch harm plants?
No. The dyes used on hardwood mulch are iron oxide or carbon based.
Will it wash away on a slope?
Shredded hardwood knits together and holds far better than nuggets.
Do you clear the weeds first?
Yes, pulled and treated. Burying them just delays the problem.
What about the smell?
Fresh cedar smells strongly for a few days, then settles.
Can you edge the beds too?
A fresh spade edge is included. It is most of the finished look.
How much do I need?
About one cubic yard per 100 square feet at three inches. We measure on site.
