Hardscapes Design & Installation

Flagstone, pavers and poured concrete set on an engineered base with real drainage.

The work

What this covers

Almost every failed patio we are called out to look at failed underneath. Not enough base, no compaction in layers, nowhere for water to go. Ours are built on an engineered base compacted in lifts, with falls set to move water away from the house and a proper edge restraint holding it all together.

Above that you choose the material: natural flagstone, manufactured pavers or poured concrete with a finish. Cuts are made on site with a wet saw so the edges are clean, and the joints are polymeric sand that stays put instead of washing out.

  • Engineered base Excavated and compacted in lifts to the right depth for the use
  • Falls and drainage Water moved away from the foundation by design, not luck
  • Edge restraint Spiked restraint so the field cannot creep and open joints
  • Polymeric jointing Locks the surface and keeps weeds and ants out

Why us

What you actually get for the money

Every quote covers the same standards, whichever service you are booking.

  • A fixed price

Quoted against a drawing or a measured scope, not an hourly estimate that drifts.

  • Licensed and insured

Certificates go out with the proposal without being asked for.

  • Built to depth

Bases excavated and compacted in layers — the part nobody sees and everything depends on.

  • Our own crew

No subcontracting the parts that matter, so there is nobody to pass blame to.

  • A real schedule

Start and finish dates in writing, and a call if either moves.

  • Site left clean

Swept, tools away and debris gone at the end of every working day.

Our guarantee

If it moves, we come back

Everything we build carries a two-year workmanship guarantee on top of whatever the material manufacturer offers. That is not a marketing line — it is why we spend the money on base depth and drainage that a cheaper quote skips.

The crew that built it is the crew that comes back. There is no warranty department to argue with.

  • Two-year workmanship guarantee in writing
  • Material warranties registered in your name
  • The original crew handles any callback
  • No charge for anything that is our workmanship

Good to know

Common questions

How deep is the base?

Six inches compacted for foot traffic, more where vehicles run.

Will it settle?

Not if it is compacted in lifts. Settlement is what happens when it is not.

Flagstone or pavers?

Flagstone for character and irregular shapes, pavers for a crisp line and lower cost.

How long does a patio take?

Most residential patios are one to two weeks on site.

Do you seal it?

Optional. Sealing deepens the colour and helps with stains but needs redoing every few years.

What about weeds in the joints?

Polymeric sand locks the joints. It stops weeds and ants far better than plain sand.

Can you build over an existing slab?

Sometimes, if it is sound and the levels work. Usually it is better out.

Will it crack in frost?

A properly drained base does not hold water, which is what causes frost damage.

Do you match existing stone?

We will try. Bring us a sample and we will source as close as we can.

What is the guarantee?

Two years on workmanship, plus whatever the material manufacturer offers.
